Promoting Government Use of
Plain Language Editing Software:

The Creation of StyleWriterForGovernment.com

A Project of the Plain Writing Association

To help promote the use of exceptional plain-language editing software in government and business, the Plain Writing Association has assisted in the creation of the StyleWriterForGovernment.com website. The website, which is owned by Writers SuperCenter LLC (whose president, Irwin Berent, is our founding president), promotes the use of software for writing in clear, concise language and gives Federal, state and local governments an efficient method of purchasing the major plain-language editing software program, known as StyleWriter Plain English Software.

The Food and Drug Administration, a long-term user of StyleWriter, used StyleWriter in its pilot program that tested the software for plain language applications, and 1,000 employees at the Environmental Protection Agency trained with StyleWriter products to help put plain language into practice in their agency. And since that time, many thousands of licenses have been sold for StyleWriter products within the Federal government as well as to numerous governments, corporations, organizations, schools, and individuals here and around the world.

StyleWriter is helping to change the culture of careless, unclear, and confusing writing. And in the process, it is helping to save countless hours of work and millions of dollars otherwise lost answering confused client inquiries and complaints, clearing up foul-ups caused by miscommunications, and repeating misunderstood requests.

We are pleased to have assisted in the preparation of the StyleWriterForGovernment website and grateful that our founding president, whose Writers SuperCenter business is one of the most important Internet-based distributors of writer's software in the world, has been a steadfast supporter of plain-language software.
